Welcome to the Piano Studio of Dr. Amy E. Gustafson! After almost 25 years of piano teaching experience in New York City and in Austin, Texas, Dr. Gustafson is now based in State College, Pennsylvania. Dr. Gustafson accepts students ages 5 to 18 as well as college piano majors. Recent student achievements include first prizes in many local and national competitions, including second prize in the Phyllis Triolo competition, first prize in the Pennsylvania State MTNA competition, first prize in the Junior Steinway Competition, first prize in the Roslyn Tureck Bach Competition Category 6, and acceptances into piano performance degrees at prestigious schools such as Juilliard, Oberlin Conservatory, Indiana University, Manhattan School of Music, Mannes School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, Duquesne University, Temple University, Millersville University's Tell School of Music, and Penn State.
Gustafson also partners with students from around the world, offering high-level teaching for young pianists pursuing music as their career-path. Dr. Gustafson specializes in preparing students for college auditions and competitions, offering instruction in vital aspects of the process, including practice mindset, healthy physiological approach to the piano, injury-prevention, repertoire selection, and stage presence.
